Tides of Pirates
Khaz Moruum is the home-island of the dwarves, due east-northeast of Tyrgard. It is the smallest of the Core Isles in terms of surface area; however, being an incredibly large undersea mountain, the dwarves have made use of the underground regions below the sea level in constructing their hold.
A ship sailing into Khaz Moruum would find only a small, rocky island, with a large and surprisingly busy bay dominating one side. Upon sailing through the mouth of a fabulously engraved dwarven head, the sailor would find themselves in a large cove, surrounded by docks and piers to weigh anchor. Beyond the docks, markets and inns cater to merchants and travelers; then, a precipitous drop (the gullet of the graven dwarf, as it were) marks the beginning of the city proper. Every nook and cranny of this vast vertical cavern has been dug out to be made into houses, shops, and switchback stairways leading further down. The city only grows denser as the cavern grows wider at the bottom, until finally the cavern floor can be seen, home to the mushroom farms, slums, and the natural freshwater reservoir (which is pumped upward through the cavern by an elaborate bilge system, along with the fumes from the foundries and factories in the slums).
